I work at a mechanic shop handling the business side of things and we had a customer with a 2005 QX56. His shocks went out on him and I did some research on it. The mechanic told me he has air shocks, but they have a air-to-gas conversion kits, which it much cheaper.

I can get the conversion for $270, but it's just shocks. No additional parts. I already contacted the company and they said it's a direct fit and requires no other parts.

However, I saw Gabriel shocks on RockAuto for $29/each. Here's an Amazon link to the part

Can we get the Gabriel Shocks or do we have to buy the conversion? He's a good customer and I want him to save the money, since he isn't planning to keep the QX56 for much longer.

Hi curios what you went with? I have a similar dilemma - Do I replace my existing air shocks or go with gas conversion.

The customer was cheap and left it as is. If your compressor is good, you are better off getting the air shocks. You'll get a MUCH better ride with them.

Call your dealer. They're cheaper than $180/each. Retail by us is $130. Our cost was about $110, since we are a business.

Here is the part number.

56200-ZV65A

Here is a dealer that sells on eBay

It's $108 on there. OEM parts are usually cheaper on eBay than the dealer.

thank you I never thought of just searching on the part number! one question does it matter that mine is a 2004 and the part number is 64A not 65A? I assume the 65A is updated and maybe improved? thanks.

companies make updates to their parts all the time so yes you are ok to use the updated model.

you may even be hard pressed to find the older part number anyway.
