Unless I mash the parking brake pedal with quite some force, the car will roll on an incline while in neutral. (I mean a pain in the thigh type of force).

Brought the car to the mechanic that replaced pads and turned the rotors in Janaury, and he claims that the parking brake design is very poor on the Q45 and the roll will be present unless a lot of force is applied.

Apparently, the 2005 Q45 has seperate drum brakes/pads for the parking brake system on the rear.

Anybody else run into this weak parking brake performance?

I've never owned a vehicle that couldn't hold a car on an incline before with the parking brake and in neutral.

I think your mechanic is full of it. It should be able to hold the car...

Check out the FSM (factory service manual) for an adjustment procedure. www.nicoclub.com/FSM/

I'm guessing that it's also possible that the emergency brake was left on at some point and the drum shoes are badly worn?

Spoke to him again, and he'll take apart the rear system to check the pads on the parking brake.

According to the service manual, it should take 4 -5 notches to hold the car, I'm at 8 - 10 right now after he adjusted it today.

Back to the shop tomorrow.
