I bought this from initinitpartsonline.com for $60.08

NIssan Part Number: 27277-AR225 Cabin Air Filter

My tips:

1. Move the front passenger seat all the way back.

2. Open the glove box door and you will note two nylon straps supporting the door on each side.

3. These two straps are held to the dash assembly via two plastic clips. They operate exactly the same way as interior trim clips found in your trunk.

4. With a standard (flat head) screw driver, pop the center pin out and release the strap assembly from the dash on both sides.

5. You'll notice a black plastic panel in the back and left side of the glovebox opening with two thumb clips cut into the side. Using two fingers pull those tabs slightly inwards and pull out on the panel simultaneously.

6. once this black panel is removed you'll notice a clear/creamy white plastic panel with a simple latch directly behind it. Remove this panel.

7. Remove the cabin air filter.

8. Reverse assembly.

How important is it to change this filter and how often should it be done?

I thoght i read on a forum that there was a 'generic' for about $16. and the just reused the foam on the side again.

not sure if you have downloaded the Field Service Manual FSM.
http://www.nicoclub.com/FSM/Q45/
tousands of pages of factory how to.
a must have.
Are you ordering thru JOE at Scottsdale Infiniti.(sponsor) He gives nico 25% off and he is fair on shipping. order several items and the discount is always greater than the shipping cost.

I will give JOE a try. Is there a discount code and web link?

The FSM is very good but not quite down to the level of us weekend warrior types in some instances.

My 2005 Q has 36,000 miles on it and I believe the original cabin filter that I replaced.

The filter was dirty and 10% blocked, but sunlight still shined through.

You can always follow the replacement instructions to check it. Hold a shop light to it an illuminate the entire filter or hold to the sun and check for blockage.

I don't know if there is an acceptable blockage percentage, but for me, if any area of the filter is blocked, I would replace.

If you have the heated/cooled, perforated front seats, there are also "seat filters" (about 4" square and loacted under the seat and within the seat chassis. Use a flashlight and a 3 -4" makeup mirror to locate.

Mine were clear, so the previous owner may have never used the option.

Thanks Mark.

I'm needing the driver's seat motor/chassis as the previous owner was a big dude who wore it out. Growling/vibrating upon retracting when exiting the vehicle.

Perhpas someone has attempted this repair. I checked the FSM and is seems doable.

I repaired the driver's motor drive assembly on my '02 Q. In my case I had a broken ring magnet on the drive shaft. The magnet and a reed switch are used to store the seat position.

I would think the biggest problem is finding a new drive assembly. My driver's side is much noisier than the passenger side. I thought about swapping them but the passenger side does not have the position encoder.

If you find one, I can give you some hints on making the swap easier.

Dude, I had the same problem in my '97 (or maybe it was the '05?). Basically, there was a thick strand of wires going horizontally across the seat underneath it. This strand is vibrating in resonance when the seat moves, and this causes that obnoxiously loud buzzing sound you hear. You'll notice that if you hold your hand on the strand, the noise disappears. I basically used a tie-wrap to pull the strand to an anchor on the seat that moves with it, and all the noise disappeared. I wish you the best of luck, but I'm prettty sure this is what your problem is being caused by.

Just took a look at my '05 cabin air filter; safe to say it hasn't been changed for the full 105k miles.

Ordered a generic one from RockAuto for $18 shipped to NY.

When I bought the car, I also noticed that the air filter hasn't been changed since the first owner had it (94k miles). I have pictures of the swamp that the air was being filtered through if anyone cares to see it. My question is what else should I potentially check? The oil was changed regularly (thank god for THAT at least...) but I want to know what other maintenance the previous owner may have neglected.

Thanks.

Not sure, but I think I've even seen cabin filters at WalMart near the air and oil filters, so I think they're getting to be pretty common in the aftermarket.
