Looking at a 2005 Q Premium with 25k miles and still under factory warranty.Checked with Infiniti service, and last regular service for this Q was 12k miles. (their records) no other records available. Will have car checked out but wonder if there were no fluid changes/ inspection for 13k miles could have a detrimental effect on long term. Will probably get them to price below 19 grand and will have an 100k warranty added by Infiniti (if they will do it). And have all fluids changed.Any recalls/service notices on this car? There was a throttle problem on earlier Q's.

I intend to keep my 96Q for the city driving, since no one is sure what the acceleration problem is without replacing everything under the hood it seems like.

No reputable company will issue an insurance service policy beyond 7 years from first service date. Stardard Infiniti is 6 years/70k.

Nissan/ Infiniti requires 180 day/7500 mile oil changes lack of proof TO NISSAN may wreck your anticipation.

Remember a dealer/reseller cannot obligate Nissan as to warranty!

Not being able to PROVE the 2 times 4+ years or 8+ oil changes might be a problem?

I had a feeling that those possible missed oil changes would be a problem. Thanks for the info.Infiniti customer service would not give out the service history on that Q, but a Marin Infiniti service tech pulled the records.Got to keep the techs happy. Dropping off a pizza at lunch hour sure makes a difference. Next is a small keg in the trunk of my Q.

Yes unfortunately no one at dealership can backdate and add prior imaginary services..............the date is the date.

But remember oil changes only apply to engine and a removal and inspection under valve cover will tell an expert about bearing damage and potential for problems.

Would never expect a back date. Just good to have friends behind that 'safety zone' civilians aren't allowed. Now if I could find one who can determine my 96Q problem.Five dealers five different answers.

But not Jerry Tucker's yet!

Finding a Senior Infiniti technician trained on the G50 is very difficult.

Actually, the senior tech at Niello Infiniti in Concord CA has been there since 1991 and is real familar with the older Q's. He is the one who took the car out and got the KS codes. He emailed me when I questioned him about what others have said. and stated the it's probably corrsion of the harness that's causing the codes to come up.But so far three other techs state that bad KS's/harness would definitiely not cause a drag in acceleration. So whom to believe. And this drag only occurs after twenty minutes of driving and then not all the time. So corrsion is the likely source. But the're saying if that this slight lag is the only problem so far, it's not worth 2grand to fix, just use the car on short city drives and look for a newer car for the highway trips to Santa Cruz/Tahoe when you can really feel the drag.Of course i can't think of a newer car I really like, so I guess I need to adjust my attitude.

It seems such a simple problem (To a trained tech) has become something so big.

I think it is the KS, just read the EC section of the FSM and you will see, but the ECM retards the engine by default to prevent knocking when the knock sensor or harness is bad.

Hope you can find someone to pull the plenum again

Or when the KS heats up and the cracks open wider.

I had that prob on my J.Ran like a beast till it warmed completely up.

Well, have the KS and harness been replaced?

I bet it's time. If the KS aren't reporting, then the ECU does retard timing and less power and efficiency ensue.

Don't know where he was before 1991, but Senior Techs were trained in 1989 on the G50.

OK KS' next week. Will let you know how the Q performs after that. That's the last of my 401k anyhow. 2 thousand was going to spent on the prostrate but that will have to wait.. Maybe the PSA codes were wrong, I hope.

Whoa, to get to the KS, everything under the plenum has to come off, so you come out with all new parts everywhere.

Plan carefully!
