I have a 2005 Pathfinder with about 90,000 miles. It has been a good car so far. About four months ago the fuel level sensor went out. I still need to fix that. The check engine light started coming came on a couple months later and now stays on. About a month ago we were driving down the interstate and it started to die. RPM's went to almost zero. I pulled over and it was idling very rough. I turned it off and waited about 30 sec. and it started right up like nothing was wrong. Drove it for a few hundred miles and it did it again. It got more common over time, about twice per tank of gas. And recently it has become very common and harder to start. Now it will not start at all. I have replaced both camshaft position sensors and made sure the fuel pump is pumping fuel. It is flashing codes P1446, P0463 and P0430. I have talked to two dealership service departments. One said cam position sensors and the other said catalytic converters. Now I see something about the IPDM. Can you tell me what is wrong or what to look at to figure out what is wrong so I can get this back on the road? Thanks!

Sounds like you have issues. The IPDM starts to go out and causes severe engine misfire which causes your catalytic converters to fall apart. This is much more common on titans and armadas. An easy way to tell if your IPDM is going out is to find a computer scanner which can read data monitor (ECM inputs). Hook up the scanner and look at battery voltage through the scanner. If it reads much less than the actual battery voltage (you will need a voltmeter to do this) than you know there is an excessive voltage drop across the IPDM. This is only one problem. At this point your catalytic converter may be toast. If it has fallen apart than it can cause an exhaust restriction and can cause a hesitation. Don't ignore the problem. If the converters get bad enough the substrate can get sucked back up into the engine and cause it to burn oil. The only fix for this is MAJOR engine work or engine replacement. The fuel level sensor is a common problem, this one can be ignored if you pay close attention to your mileage and refuel often.

you need an ipdm, left side cat, and fuel level sensor after you get done paying off the other issues

How did your repair go? I have '05 Pathfinder that had same symptoms as you, except it completely quit. First thought it was fuel pump, as problems began directly after fueling a nearly empty tank. Replaced that and drove it 35 miles and shut it off. Never to start again! Turns over fine, just won't start. My mechanic can not pull any codes, we are at a loss. Scaird to take it to dealer, can anyone help me?
