I paid 4 tows and it cost me a lot of grey hairs to finds out that my pathfinder doesn't accept aftermarket fuel pumps . I tried to be cheap and it bit me in the rear.
The pathfinder would just not want to start.It would happen intermittently and one time it actually started when I unloaded it off the flatbed towtruck ... seconds after if came off the truck , the pathfinder started up . The towtruck driver and the mechanic at the dealer looked at each other and started laughing... the dealer mechanic installed alight bar which had connections at different points (battery , starter ,cpu and fuel pump) to find out where the cutoff was.
He finally got a day where the truck wouldn't start and pinpointed the whereabouts of the problem ... it was the fuel pump ... a brand new fuel pump(aftermarket) was not working ... the manufacturer wouldn't refund me because his pump works , just not on my truck
... my next step would have been giving him an uppercut so I left the premises I also had the same thing happen to me with a fan clutch for this pathfinder ...it looked exactly the same but wouldn't turn "off" ... the fan would stay engaged therefore making a loud noise like as if the vehicle was forcing all the time...fortunately I didn't have to pay for installation because I did this myself.
I am now terrified of buying aftermarket parts for my pathfinder ... she runs on OEM
