Anybody heard of excessive squealing of the brakes on a 2005 Pathfinder? It usually happens in reverse when you first start driving, and it is VERY loud. Intermittently, it happens in traffic and you can count on plenty of looks and people rolling up windows when you stop beside them. I have had it at Nissan 4 times so far and they say that it is normal. One problem with that.... it didn't say anything on the window sticker about squealing brakes being an option. They did say that the Murano has had brake noise problems and they (Nissan) have come up with Service Bulletin brake pads to remedy.

This is a very common complaint on the 05 path. Unfortunately nissan has not come up with a good solution. It is definately a problem with the brake pads. If you are past the warranty coverage you might try a good aftermarket ceramic pad. They tend to be alot quieter.

Thanks for the information. I think that 60% of my problem is the service department that I am going to. They are convinced that "It is NORMAL" is an acceptable answer.

The only other problem with the vehicle is when it is cold out, the heater will blow full hot all of the time, until the temp control is set to 60 degrees. They changed the control head as a shotgun fix, but it is still the same. I put a fluke thermometer in the vents and it is blowing out 140 degrees after driving for more than 30 minutes.
