I have an '05 Pathfinder LE 4x4 w/4,700 miles. Gas mileage has been terrible - best to date is 14.6, usually hovers between 14.4 & 14.6. I live in CT, most of my driving is flat, highway driving - not mountain roads. I commute off hours, so it's not stop & go either. Dealer says this is normal - I'm not buying it. I'd like to know what others are getting. I've been using premium gas, going to try a lower grade to see if that will help any.

You're out of luck. All pathfinders have this curse.

Read this post from nissan performance magazine (very bottom):http://www.nissanperformancema...sarah/

She puts it very nicely, "...Pathfinder and Nissan trucks guzzle gas like a drunk frat boy drinks from a beer bong."

If premium isn't required, put in 87. That's what I use in my 3.5L QX4.

This is normal as the dealer told you. and its not just the pathfinder we get complaints on fuel economy on all truck models. I have been with nissan for 10 yrs now and the concern seems to only come up everytime the fuel prices take a hike. We dont ever hear about fuel milage concerns when fuel prices are stable. this is statisically speaking from my experiance over the last 10 yrs as a nissan technician. I have never found a problem with the cars in this case, the fuel alpha on the car is right with in specs when we test them.

This mileage thing is so true on Nissans. A few years ago I bought my first Nissan Hardbody pickup and I couldn't believe the rotten fuel mileage I was getting (95 Xtra cab two wheel drive).

Two years later I had enough of the truck and traded it in on a new 96 Toyota Tacoma 4x4/v-6/Xtra cab, which amazingly got much better mileage than the 4 cylinder Nissan. I never regretted that change.

Last year I sold my Tacoma and bought a 2001 QX4. Love the rig, however the mileage is a basic 15mpg town and country. Gotta love that ride, cornering ability, and on tap horsepower! Sure beats the poor souls that have bought the Dodge SUV. I think those units use approx. 5 gallons of gas just sitting in the garage overnight...! Nitro

I have a 2004 model with the 3.5L engine. The mileage is about 6.5km/L. I have read from somewhere that if you change all the oil to synthetic, you will get better mileage. I have not try that yet.
