I'm really interested in buying some wheels and tires for my car. I am looking for the maximum wheel size that I can get on my car without having to rise it at all.

The car is in stock condition right now. meaning i havent lowered it t all or anything. i'm looking to possibly lower it if necessary.

Anyways, I am looking for a package of 4 wheels and tires under $1000 if possible.

Thanks!David

Would 18's really hit the sides? aww pooey.

Ok, I think I found some I like.

I REALLY like the Motegi FF7 Glossy Black w/Polished Lip which are $139 / piece and then there are Tires.

I know NOTHING about tires, so my first inclination was to get the cheapest tires, so I went with the second to cheapest ones which were FalkenZiex ZE-512 205/40ZR17 $72.00 ea.

It came out to a package price of $844 which sounds like an awesome price for me. The link is here.http://wheelstudio.com/catalog...=2199

Now, my question about tires is this, how do I know if the tire will be low profile? I want some really really thin tires to look sleek on my Nissan sentra

Thanks!David

P.S. I really appreciate the quick replies!

i have 18's they fit fine. you will just want to roll the rear fenders.

i also have the falken ziex tires, they're all seasons so i'm not sure if that would work out for you up there. not terribly grippy though. although they have lasted me quite a while.

the problem with going to low of a sidewall on the tires is that it's easier to bend the wheels. if you end up going with a 17" wheel i'd say stick with 45 series, and if you go with 18" do a 40 series.

depending on the width of the wheel you'll probably want to do around a 215 or 225

Use a tire size calculator (Google it) to make sure you get the right overall size, otherwise your speedo and odo will be off. Also, like b15chik said, too thin of a tire will put you in danger of bending the wheel.

IMO, 18's usually look goofy on Sentras.

You're not the first to tell me that...

Honestly, your car is the only counterexample I can think of. Somehow I forget that they're that huge every time I see a pic.

Haha, I am completely new to this kind of thing and have absolutely NO clue what you are talking about with the "45 series" and "40 series"

Also, with the 215 and 225, what are those talking about?

Anyways, I want my rims and wheels to look really slick, and i don't want to pay too much for them. I don't want to have to replace a wheel too soon though just because it got bent too easily, if you know what i mean.

with those numbers that you guys roll out (like the <-----215/40/17's from a 195/60/15) from b15chik, can you tell me what those look like, and what the numbers mean?

THANKs!!!!

So you want quality, price, and style? Sorry, pick any two.

Haha, more seriously though, the Sentra would look funny with rubber-band tires.

40/45 refers to the tire sidewall "height" if you will, while the 215/225 bits refer to width.

So, when someone says 215/45/17 (what I run, for instance), it's 215mm wide across the tread, 45mm thick in the sidewall, and has a 17in inner diameter.

That looks something like this:

Note: My car is lowered about 1.5in, and those obviously aren't stock brakes, though they are stock size.

Ok,then I pick price and style because that is the two things that I want.

first, I need a good price and a stylish rim. Decent tires, and anything else (lowering, or whatever) done to the car.

Where could I go to get this done?

Thanks!-David

Well, what you see on mine was $700ish shipped, wheels and tires. Flik is kind of off the beaten path as far as brands go, but they actually have pretty good stuff. My brother liked them so much, he got a similar set and the same tires on his A4.

But anyway, normally I exclusively plug sponsors, but unless Tirerack is running a special, I don't think you're going to find the discount wheels there that you want. Try edgeracing.com, they have wheel/tire packages often as low as about $600. IMO, the best idea would be got get some 17s and a 40 series tire (I think the 1.8's use a slightly smaller overall diameter with the 15's, plus you want a thinner tire anyway, and the rolling difference is negligible on a Sentra between 17s with 40s and 45s), then lower the car a bit. Use KYB GR2s and Eibach Prokits or Sportlines. The latter lowers further, but it may stress those KYBs out a bit.

All in all, you should be able to pull that off for around $1k.

Otherwise, get some 18s like you were thinking and use a tire size calculator to figure out what tire to run. You might be able to run the KYBs and some Prokits without having to do too much work, but a fender roll in the rear may be unavoidable.

So, either method is going to run you $1000-1500. I'd venture to say that rolling the fenders is probably going to make the 18s more expensive than the 17s on its own.

If you go with Edge, check your tire inflation when they arrive. Their service is great, but my tires were at their maximum 40psi cold when they arrived, and that isn't cool.

Oh, and as for where, any local tire shop should be able to do a decent job of installation. If you decide to go with 18s and get the fenders rolled, shop your local body shops for reviews and pricing to make sure you get a good deal and good work. Some people have done it on their own, but it takes a lot of patience and the right tools.
