My abs light came on as well as a whole slew of other indicator lights I took the vehicle to the local Nissan dealers service dept after 3 weeks of trying to get even a return phone call I was informed yesterday it is the "abs module" the kicker is they say they cannot find a new replacement but have found a used one and that it will "only" cost me 920 dollars for them to replace it.

I have had so many problems with this vehicle and with this particular service shop .In may of this year they had my car for 2 months and I ended up racking up 3000 plus dollars in repairs only to have them tell me the transmission had to be replace because of the whole coolant in the transmission ordeal which ended up being another 2500 dollars.

long story longer I plan on doing this repair myself but I was also looking for some tips as to what else to look for and possible diy material for this fix or if a member near sacramento can refer me to a fair and trustworthy Nissan mechanic in the Roseville ca area I would also appreciate that.

Sorry for the long drawn out topic but my frustration level is boiling over. If anymore info is needed please let me know and I will do my best to post in a timely manner. thank you in advance.

First of all, don't go back to that dealership. If it took that long and that much harassing just to get you a diagnosis and estimate, it's probably a sloppy guess at best, especially considering your experience with them. You can probably safely disregard what they said. There are plenty of good shops out there that will treat you right, though I can't recommend any in your area.

I'd start by finding out what codes are being thrown. If dashboard lights are popping on, it's most definitely throwing codes. Any mechanic can tell you what they are and what they mean, but they'll charge around $100 to do so. You can also bring the car to pretty much any auto parts store and they'll scan for free and give you the codes. Once you get them do some searching on the forum and post them here if you can't find any answers.

Also, which lights are on? ABS, SES, 4WD, etc. What other problems have you had, and how did you address them, if you have yet?

And welcome to the forum!
