Looking at trading my nissan maxima with 170K miles. The light battery flashes sometimes which usually indicates the alternator and/or battery has issues. The issue is that the battery is not even 12 months olds and the alternator is only about 5 months old. When I sit the car for a few day, I can drive it for a few hours and the light doesn't flash. What could be the issues??

I'm assuming the terminals are on nice and tight on the battery and alternator? Clean as well? You can get it easily tested at your local parts store (most do testing for free)...could also be defective (rare but happens).

Clean terminals and ground wire
use a multimeter to check dc voltage
with car running you should have 14.4 volts when checking the battery
If so alternator is working probably
