hey guys, just wondering if anyone else has had problems out of a wheel bearing in the front going bad? i have a "scrubing" noise that sounds like 2 pcs of metal rubbing, before you think its the brakes they are new, and its not all the time. the noise doesnt go away with brakes applied, however if you accelerate it does. doesnt do it all the time, just after i have been on interstate or been driving a while. any ideas????? im going crazy with this sound! :iws:

If its a wheel bearing, typically it will get louder when you load that side of the vehicle (like when you take a turn and that side of the car is the outside edge of the turn).

i ve tried that doesnt seem to make a major difference. only slight if at all. i replaced the cv axle a few weeks back thinking that was the problem, it did take the problem away until this last week. and it has progressively gotten louder.

the CV axle should only make noise if you are accelerating (or maintaining speed) through a corner.

yes i know this. this is a unique sound i have never heard come from a car. this car has been perfect until now. i guess i will be trying the wheel bear/hub replacement to see if this eliminates the noise

If it were the wheel bearing you'd be able to move the tire around (left/right up/down) with it jacked up in the air.

So the wheel hub and wheel bearing were bad. really bad. now i have an all new problem that didn t exist before. its a thump coming from the same side. i have replaced as of now, cv half shaft, wheel hub, wheel bearing. it seems to be resonating from the transmission area yet with both sides jacked up and just the driver side turning its perfect, however, when the passenger side spins it thumps. it didnt have this noise before replacing hub and wheel bearing. i am going to disassemble and reassemble this side again to see if something is just no aligned properly. if anyone has an idea what this could be please feel free to comment....im getting frustrated with this car!!
