2005 Maxima transmission problem

I have a 05 Maxima, has 72K miles. After the car has been driven for about 30 minutes the gears start shifting in a jerking manner (on slow speed only). The check engine light came on and the code is for the shift solenoid. My mechanic is not sure about it, the dealership is saying to replace the transmission. Need help.

Is it under warranty? If so, I'd go with the dealer. A free brand new transmission would be worth the downtime for me.

Most likely it sounds like it is getting stuck in a certain gear or there may be a nitch in that gear. If it is still under warranty then get it fixed ASAP because I think the warranty for transmission's only go to 75k.
