Welcome to NICO!

I am not exactly sure, but I believe the fuel filter is not serviceable. You might look into getting a K&N drop in filter, or an aftermarket intake.

K & N Drop in - Part # 33-2031-2

K & N Intake System - Part # 63-6015

Injen Technologies Intake System - Part # SP 1946 P

AEM Intake System - Part # 21-549P

Just a few options. You can click on any of the links to get to the part number itself, or the manufacturers homepage to do your own research. Otherwise there's not much that I know of that you can do besides lay off the pedal a little.

On quite a few of the newer vehicles the fuel filter is either in the tank (non serviceable) or part of the actual fuel pump assembly (non serviceable).

What kind of mileage are you getting if you don't mind me asking, and what kind of daily driving are you doing?

We get mid-to-high 20s combined in ours with moderate driving (semi-conservative mixed with semi-hotrodding). I'd say that's pretty decent for a 265 hp 3100 lb car.

Best thing to start off with for improving fuel milage is to make sure the basics are covered, then move on to modifications. Make sure you're running the right tire pressure. Run a can of Techron, Lucas fuel system treatment or, better yet, BG44K (concentrated, highly effective fuel system cleaner) through the tank. Make sure you use gas with good detergents (or regularly add Techron or your favorite every few fillups). Make sure your spark plugs are in good shape. Make sure the air filter is clean.

Once those are taken care of, if you're still not seeing the milage you'd like (what are you hoping to get, by the way?), then I would move on to mods.

Just remember that the car was pretty well engineered to begin with, so slapping on generic "upgrades" may sound good but will probably have negative impacts rather than positive. For instance, stock airbox is well designed and gets good fresh air. No need to stick on a cone to draw heated air from the engine bay. Just get a higher flowing filter for the stock box. There are well designed aftermarket intakes out there. Just make sure you know what you're buying before you do.

I got a 10-20% increase in mpg with my injen intake. I know most people say it will decrease your fuel efficiancy but mine did't at all... even though I'm much heavier on the pedal now

Does any auto store carry BG44 K cleaner or do you have to go someplace special for it ?

It can be hard to find. Usually easiest to find at car dealers.http://www.bgfindashop.com will help you track down a vendor that carries it.

The fuel filter is in the gas tank and it can be changed. Just takes a little time. I have 92,000 miles and have had no reasons to change it. How many miles do you have on your car?
