I have the 2005 Infiniti G35x with the 3.5L V6.
It goes thru quite a bit of oil. Like a 1/2 a quart every other day. No leaks. Car is not smoking. No oil in coolant. I have replaced the PCV valve.
I have been using a synthetic blend 5w-30.
Is anyone else experiencing this? What oil would be suggested to use? Car has 145,000 miles in it with regular maintenance.
Any additive i could try to help with rings or valve seals?

Thanks

Are you checking the oil on a cold engine? It’s not really accurate checking the dipstick unless The car has sat overnight on a flat surface. If I try to check it any other time the oil is just all over the dipstick. If not do this for a week or two and see if it’s burning the same amount of oil. If so your rings are probably just really worn and there’s not much you can do about it unless you want to rebuild

Thata a huuuge consumption.
The 05s were all a bit loose but not that loose

Any signs in the exhaust?
Such as Blue smoke?

Or Oil sprayed out from the dipstick hole under the engine bay?

If its the rings .. not that this will fix anything... but run the thickest oils to lessen consumption. It wont "fix" anything.. but you may see less oil use.
Like a 20w-50..
