Is there any way of avoiding this? Without blowing the bank? I know the factory OEM navigation isn't spectacular by today's standards. I just don't want to mess it up for resale purposes.
Looking for your opinions.
thx.

It looks like it can be done but you may need to couple it with an isolation transformer (not sure of the impedance) or opto-isolator.
The pinout appears to be:
Navi Control Unit pin #7 (+Voice) and pin #8 (-Voice) which are plus and minus 1 volt. These feed into the Audio Unit pin #32 (+) and pin #30 (-).
Not sure about the unit in question however to make it somewhat seemless you need to somehow combine this with the audio of the aftermarket unit. This would be fairly easy if using an external amp but should be possible without.
Question is, what is your goal here?
If you are simply after a little more 'punch' then it may be easier and more beneficial to keep the head unit as is and replace the amp.
It does bring up a question I have been thinking about. Many questions have cropped up about adding an OEM nav unit to various 'G's, what about removing one?
Since you have a nav unit then maybe a real good solution is removal and replacement with not another all in one head unit but with a carputer with the various accessories.

p.s. Note that the pinouts have a negative going signal not to be confused with a chassis ground. Pin #9 from the Navi Unit provides Navi earth to pin #31 on the audio unit. Pin #24 from the Navi unit provides Navi On to pin # 24 on the audio unit which maybe could be used to interupt (switch) the audio between the normal sound source and the navi. I don't think you want to ground pin #8 on the Navi unit as this is not ground.
