Has anyone done the output shaft seal on 2005 g35 2wd in their driveway on jack stands?

Mine is leaking after a rebuild 41K miles ago (the fluid is dripping on the crossmember , slinging fluid all over the place, landing on the echaust and making a smoke screen, plus the stains on the driveway)

Rebuild was at 230K
Current 271K

I am debating tryig to do this myself...or just eat it and let the trans shop do it.

Plus side the fluid is nice and pink, not brown.

Tailshaft seals are rarely any problem in and of themselves, you just pry the old one out with a screwdriver and tap the new one in with a big socket. On your G the manual says to remove the Y-pipe and center muffler, which you can probably drop out as an assembly. Rust on the exhaust and driveshaft bolts is likely your biggest potential problem, I'd presoak that stuff with WD and make sure the fasteners can all be broken and rotated before actually removing anything.

thanks mate.....it does look pretty easy EXCEPT the y-pipe....those nuts should be easily removed as they were removed at 230K (fingers crossed).

I may not need to drop the trans cross member too.

You're most welcome. The FSM doesn't say anything about dropping the crossmember on a RWD, so you should be okay without touching that.
