I saw a G35 coupe with a nice set of wheels in the parking lot at work. Today, I was looking at Infiniti.com and realized they were factory wheels.

They are part of the sport suspension package that's standard on 6spd coupes. Theyre 19" with 225/40 tires in the front and 245/40 in the rear. I'm curious how wide they are and what offset they have. But theyre definietly sweet looking wheels.

yeah saw them for the first time about a week ago and was thinking **** those look nice. but for some reason they look small on a G35. so i thought they were like 18". then i checked out the size and price and said forget-about-it.

That looks hot, not those particular wheels, but just the way the car is sitting. It really looks like a Lexus SC with that bodykit.

Chmercer, I know youre a big fan of flushness and stretched tires. What offset and what size tires would you run on a S14 with 17x8 wheels??

well if i was going to keep all my same alignment specs, to get 17x8 wheels to the same flushness of my 5zigen setup, they would have to be 17x8 -6 front 17x8 -8 rear. you could go much lower if you wanted, my alignment is all screwed up right now. i have way too much caster in the front and my rear camber is kindof lame because i have no power (yet ).

have you done anything to your fenders? are you willing to?

also one thing to consider is that its hard to get a stretch on a narrow wheel, and plus it kindof defeats the point. if you really wanted to stretch a tire on there id say go with a 205/40.

anyway post your allignment and i can give you better advice.

I guess it would be dumb to stretch tires on a relatively narrow wheel... My fenders are stock, alignment is 100% stock, stock suspension. It'll stay that way for a while.

I'm just trying to get an idea of how low in offset I can go before worrying about hitting the fenders. My taste fall in between yours and Smith's. I'm not as conservative as him, but I dont want to pull/roll fenders (yet).

Don't know about the car, but those sizes will def. fit rolled, stock S14 fenders.

those wheels are slick, if they were 18" I might think about it, but not for 19". that D-unit pic is cool though, I get a discount on tires, and I still dont want to buy 19"

The forged g35 wheels are awesome. Saw them for the first time a few months ago at a dealer and drove the car with them on it. Definately super hot

The G35 wheels said are made by RAYS and are forged.. Proabbly the cheapest strongest wheels you could find in a 19in size...

Front has 30mm offset, rear is 33... if only they had a little morelippage

how is what i said dumb? 95% of the people who buy that car have no idea the wheels are 19" forged rays wheels, and im sure they wouldnt give a crap either way if somone told them so. when designing wheels for an OEM application, a lot more factors come into play than "is this wheel purely functional". It has to be a neutral wheel, silver (as is the case with almost every other factory wheel) It has to appeal to rich old ladies as well as 23 year old guys leasing, has to use readily available tire sizes, has to weigh extra to handle people blasting potholes and armadillos at 70mph, has to have easily accessible lug nuts and valve stems, has to still look good (according to popular opinion, not nico) 5 years down the road. etc etc etc

all of your examples cover either:-function of design - lug holes, forging for weight and stay strong-subjective appeal- how does it look to mom & pop and how will it fit the apppearance of appeal in ten years...like the S14 SE wheel does.

So it sounds like they took a good asthetic and forged it for strength, weight, and brand recognition. And one little guy here hates it and hates all wheels that have machined lips.

You need to be careful with hating this, damning that, calling this other thing the latest trend that you hate. You sound like Kurt Cobain: depressed, depressing to have to witness, and way too cool to applaud anything.

hmm, sorry to bump this but i just noticed this reply just now and wanted to clear the air. im not sure where this went wrong but i guess my sarcasm goes unnoticed somtimes and can create confusion..

in regards to the machined lip business, i have a slight dislike for wheels with a machined lip, id rather have somthing with a deep bolt circle (ex. work emotion cr, racing sparco nt-r) than a shallow bolt circle and a large machined lip. even so, i used to have fn01rc, which fall into the machined lip category. its a timeless design and is accepted by the majority, so i can understand why it is integrated into a lot of wheels. its not my favorite, but i dont hate it. the -- machined lip haters club president -- was to signify the joking nature of my post, nothing more.

I reread my posts and i dont see where i said i disliked the wheel? in fact i defended the 19" size of thoes wheels in an earlier post.

I was just simply stating that wheels designed for an oem application have to fit a lot more critera than aftermarket wheels because of the larger market. I thought I did so quite civilly.

please dont get offended at anything i post, im too sarcastic and hypocritical, so dont take much of what i say seriously .
