2005 FX 45 Only work with lights on

My 2005 FX 45 dashlights turn on only when headlights are on. In the daytime this means the speedometer & tachometer are off and invisible. I have checked 2006 FX 45's & the dashlights go on as soon as the ignition is turned on. Is there a retrofix for my car? Help!!
