My 05 crew cab, without factory tow package, I added reese hitch, then installed factory jumper harness with 2 relays for A/T behind passenger kick panel, then I installed factory 7 way camper wiring harness...upon checking 7 way plug in with a voly meter, i have no ground at pin one ( std wiring diagram ) and no tail light voltage at pin 3.....I replaced the jumper relays , checked all the fuses and connectors to the harnesses even put in the 3rd relay in the jumper harness even though it says it's not needed for A/T...What am I missing, I can cut into the factory 7 way harness and rig a ground and also rig a tail light circuit but thats the reason I spent almost $90 on the factory parts, I dont want to just rig it...Please help me if you can.... Thanks in Advance.. Gene

I have seen this on a couple frontiers we have installed the factory hitch and relays with harness in. Behind the knee panel below and to the passenger side of the coloum is a relay plug that is empty. If its empty grab the relay you were not suppose to put in the jumper harness and plug it in there. That will resolve your tail light problem. As far as the ground issue I have not seen that yet.

I looked everywhere for a plug that this extra relay would fit, behind driver knee panel, driver kick panel, passenger kick panel and found nothing that wasn't already filled or it wouldn't fit except the relay harness that I installed with 2 relays..I even tried puting in all 3 relays & still no Tail lights. Do you have any more ideas, I have tried everything I know....Do you think it may be related to the recall for 2005 nissans, I will send off my vin to nissan & see if I'm affected.....

Are you sure you have the right year kit. Make sure on the instruction manual it says clearly 2005 frontier. I was just looking at the last 3 years of the truck and it appears all three were wired differently. If you kit is not for an 05 its not correct.

I checked the terminal numbers you mentioned and niether is as you stated in the service manual terminal 2 is around and terminal 4 is tail lights.

Although this is at the 7 pin connector.Note That connector is standard on all three years. Maybe you have interpeted the terminals incorrect? or are you reffering to a different connector?

Also check the fuses in both the ipdm and the fuse relay box. Ipdm will be a big black box and the fuse relay box is a small box. If the 10amp fuse in the IPDM is blown you will have no trailer tail lights.
