I was recently the victim of the 2005 Frontier defective radiator that wiped out the transmission. At 82K miles Nissan refused to fix it.
The trans and radiator have been replaced, but now the heater blows cold air regardless of setting.
Does the cooling system require a vacuum to be drawn on it in order to fill it properly.
Could there be a vapor lock in the heater core ?
Is there s specific method for refilling with coolant.

Look at the firewall where the heater hoses come out and see if there is a bleeder there. Look for posts for the Xterra with no warm air from the heater and you will find a fix to bleed if the bleeder valve is not there.

Yes, sounds like there is an air pocket in the heater core that needs to get bled out. Feel free to check out www.nicoclub.com/FSM to download a copy of the official Nissan factory service manual for your truck. Might I suggest bypassing the radiator mounted trans cooler completely and installing an aftermarket cooler so this never happens again. Nissan is doing its customers wrong by not standing behind this fatal flaw in their Frontiers. Hopefully they realize that their truck market share is contingent on repeat customers so it would be in their interest to fix the problem under warranty.
