I was looking for a car to buy next year, and the mustang is cheap, with the v6 going for less than $14,000.

Someone showed me the 2005 model and its settled. THe finest car I've seen since 1970. ANd the car I'm getting.

Im not fixing the q45 now. I'll buy a $750 caprice and save the $6000 towards the mustang.

Yeah that new Stang is sweet. I hope you are wrong too, jaegermeister. making the new Mustang FWD would be the biggest mistake ever.

I think they've ruled out the possibility of it being FWD. If it were, it wouldn't be a Mustang anymore. I'm not so excited by its looks. I didn't like the front at first. It's growing on me, though. The tail lights are too damn big for me though. The hole tail is one big light cluster (almost). At least the suspension platform won't be from the '70s, or whenever the current platform originated.

LRQ - There's only one MINOR problem. The $14K Stang won't exist. Even the 6 cyl stripped model goes for more than that NOW.

AND the production model won't look like the concept car. It'll have hubcaps, skinny tires, and a typical Furd interior. Same crappy build quality as they've always had. And the 6 in the Stang? Good God - Can you say "19 seconds is OK with me"?

I agree the concept IS beautiful - I love how they've evoked the 70 Mach - Best looking Stang in a string of FUGLY cars.

But if you pin your hopes on your bargain-basement future ride looking ANYTHING like that, you're gonna be in for a rude awakening.

Personally, I think the new mustang is god awful. Everyone else in my family digs it but me, it is so horrible, and I hated the mach and bosses. The only thing I like about it is the interior, the gauge cluster to be exact, that is to die for, anything else--should be taken to a wrecking ball, Hitman-as usual, is right about how the concept will look nothing like the production car. Its all my opinion of course.

at least two car dealers in arkansas have the 2003 v6 mustang for less than $14,000 as of 2/15/03

I heard that it will likely command a $25000 tag. Not bad if the car looks exactly like those pictures.

I agree that all other stangs other than the mach have been fugly, but the mach was more than beatiful, it was the most striking muscle car EVER made.

19 seconds is OK with me if I could have that body for 14k. Drop 3-4 k in a used ford v8 engine and you could easily produce 420 horses.

Well, it does take a some sytling cues from the mid-late 60's 'stang, but those moostangs were not particularly attractive cars. This retro look is not bad though. The interior looked a little more art deco than my taste And I'm sure I'd feel the urge to grow a mullet after driving one. I'm positive it'll be RWD, and will be yet another modified Furd LS platform car (think Jaquar S-type, Lincoln LS, Furd T-bird, etc etc. Ford will sell a ton of them I sure, but they won't be able to sell one to me. I'll have a 350z by then

In no way is a Mustang comparable to a Q45, except on paper. The Mustang was, and still is, a decent car for 1960's Detroit engineering.

I have had two of each. The new super fine looking Mustang willstill have a solid rear axle in base form. Need I say more?

Detroit iron it is. Sophisticatedly engineered light alloy it is not. They are as different as a sow's ear and a silk purse.l
