When I had my car about 10 months, I took it in to the dealer to have my oil changed, the service tech didn't screw the oil cap on tight enough or correctly and all the oil leaked out and burnt up the motor. At that time, when the oil light came on, I called the service dept and they said 'go ahead and drive it, the service tech forgot to reset the light, bring it back in at my convenience'. A mile or two later my car completely stopped and had to be towed in with a burnt up motor. I have had nothing but problems since then. The current problem I'm having that I would like to ask about is when I step on the gas pedal (after driving for 1/2 hour or so) nothing happens, the engine doesn't reve up, the car doesn't accelerate, nothing. The engine is still running and it has enough 'power' that I can slowly creep to a parking lot. When I turn off the engine it won't start up again. Several hours later it will finally start. I’ve had the battery replaced and it’s been in the shop 3 times with this same problem. I’m told that because I had extra stereo equipment in my car it drained my battery and corroded the engine harness and that it will probably have to be replaced. $1500 or something like that (I haven’t gotten the estimate yet). Of course that’s not covered under my extended warranty. Has anyone heard of such a thing or can give me some other idea of what is wrong?
