My wife '03 2.5 Altima also been stalling. There is no recall for this, even though it is common. Nissan did have a recall to reprogram the ECM to help eliminate the issue but that does not prevents the crankshaft sensor from going bad. I need help finding a service location in the Houston area that can do this economically.
I went to Autozone over the Labor Day weekend and loaned out a code scanner and it came back with P0335 Code for the Crankshaft Position Sensor malfunction. I bought part#SU6364 which is the new metal/aluminum casing for around $22. I replaced it but found out I replaced the wrong thing which is the CAM Sensor located in the front of the engine. So the problem did not go away. Since both CAM & Crankshaft Sensor use the same part#, I bought another sensor but now I'm stuck as the crankshaft sensor is impossible to get to. I wasted an hour trying to locate it in the rear of the engine and tried to remove the harness/wire but it was immpossible. Even if I was able to remove the wire, getting the bolt on and off will be another challenge. So I gave up.
I called around the dealers today and they wanted anywhere between $350 to $500 to replace. This is rediculous. Anybody know where I can replace this for cheap in the Houston area?
Any help will be appreciated. THX
