2005 3.5 SL Making Weird Noise

My 05 V6 Altima makes a knocking noise when I start it if its cold . The noise sounds like its coming from around the top right side of the motor above all the belts & pullies. It makes noise for about a minute until it warms up. The hotter the weather the louder the noise. On cool days its not that bad. Do the water pumps make noise when going bad? I have 65000 miles on it & the noise has been from about 50k. No trouble with overheating. Help Please.

When you previously turn off your car, are you leaving the AC on so when you turn the car on again the AC is in the on position?
