I know there are previous threads to this matter but none are specific to my question. The owners manual on my 07 Z only specifies 5w30. I agree with the weight, but how many of you are running full synthetic or synthetic blend after the break in period? I am a true believer of full synthetic on all my other cars but cannot find any specifics for the Z. Did your dealer tech suggest any specific type after you bought the car or is there a tech reading this that can give me some input? Thanks.

Well for my G35 (same REVUP engine) I use full synthetic. Royal Purple has always treated me right! For the weight, I stick to 10W-40 because it's a bit warm in the south...

Switched to mobil (1) at 1200 miles....did the 3500 Oil change with Mobile (1) also.... (5w30)Currently at 4800 miles...K&N filter too!

the reason for the switch was due to a large customer we have that does performance work on vehicles, for Nascar, Baja, etc....it was a recomendation from their lead mechanic for newer cars...

He even mentioned that the oil should last longer.... "just keep an eye on it" was his suggestion.....however, I have always changed oil at 2500 miles...and will continue to do so...(I have a 95 Altima with 270,000 miles that's adheared to the same oil change times...and its NEVER given me one bit of trouble EVER...)

I figured that if it's good enough for Baja...it outta be good enough for my toy...

(just my 2 cents)

On a street car, changing the oil every 5k is generally acceptable....but it never hurts to do it more often!

I change mine right at every 3,000 miles, and i get the dealership to do it...costs under $30, and they recommend I use whatever oil they're putting in it...since it's under warranty, and that's not a bad price...can't complain.

Interesting info and thanks to all here. But why did he say "just keep an eye on it"?

Well, he talked about watching the color, etc, he said I could probably run it from 5-7K miles if I "kept an eye on it"...

I'm not too sure I'd be comfortable running for 7K on an oil change...but hey....that's just me...

Just had the first oil change (only 650 miles) at the dealer and when I asked the service manager about types of oil, they suggested Mobil 1 5w30 as you mentioned, as an alternate. Its great stuff, just no mention of syn. useage in the owners manual. Thanks.

No way!!!

You have the same car, and you do the same thing I do for a living!!

Crazy!!

I am a network administrator for the LAUSD, and I just bought my base Solar Orange on Saturday

BTW, great site!!! I went and took a look at your site, it was actually what finally convinced me to buy the thing.

Oh do you know how many where made in this color?

Every 2000 miles, Valvoline Full Synthetic.Valvoline has been my choice since HIN 2006 when Ashland sponsored my car. Keep tabs on your oil levels if you have certain known oil consuming models. 2006 just turned 14000 miles and for a 6MT rev-up no signs of oil consumption on my Z.

I use Mobil 1 5-30 every 4,000-5,000. while "watching my oil" it just means that you are checking the levels and color of the oil. the darker it is the dirtier your oil is....dont laugh but I also smell my oil...older oil stinks

USE 5-30 or 10-30 Q-HORES POWER AND A K/N FILTER , CHANGE EVERY 4000 MILES. FULL SYNTHETIC IS THE ONLY WAY TO GO. MY 2007 350Z GT ALLWAYS EATS THE BEST FOOD.
