Today, I try to start my spec v and it keeps crankin. This happened a month earlier but the solution was to keep crankin. It eventually goes away and i never have it happen again till today. I cranked so much my starter almost fried. I notice fuel coming out of the exaust like a mist and you can smell. The car just about to start but doesnt. I have 48000 and its funny for a car this low in myiles to b messed up. It runs really strong and its all stock....I ran an 1/8 mile a month ago with a 10.33 timslip so its healthy. Is it running too rich or what? It was running good last night. so I dont know. Thanks Guys

Get in touch with your dealer, sounds like a fuel pump recall issue.

tHANKS FOR THE REPLY...I cant find these recall on the net. I also called the dealer a month ago asking for recalls and the service tech did not have recalls for the vehicle in the system. So not too sure. The fuel pump recall was for low temps and how it would crystalize and cause damage but I dont think it relates....Not sure. Im gonna go home and try to start again tonight while its cold out.

Might have to have the ECU reprogram recall done. Something in the ECU messes up the crank angle position sensor and the car wont start.

I went to start it last night again but it kept on crankin......This morning One attempt and it fired right off. Its like it wanted a 24 Hour Break or somethin. I called Mossy Nissan in san Diego and they said my vin doesnt fall under any recall. I would still have to pay a 95 dollar Diagnostic for a problem they wont be able to duplicate because my spec fires right up. This car is becoming unreliable. Who should i take it to....Should I just change a part on it? I am mechanically inclined but this car is weird. I like hondas better. But I love this car cuz its torquey.

Hey and thanks for all your replies and inputs. Way to help a newbie out

Nissan's specs for which VINs are affected on recalls for the SE-R have been sketchy. Take it to the dealer and see if you can get the non-starting condition to repeat.

ive ran into the same problems and i think thats its def. the fuel pump....the best way that i prevent that from happenning is by priming the fuel pump b4 actually starting the car, meaning i put the car in the on position for like 2-3 seconds b4 i actually crank the engine... you will hear the fuel pump prime itself and as soon as you hear it stop crank and it starts 100% of the time.... the only time the no start issue happens is when you rush the start up, which unfortunately cannot always start the spec v's, its wierd i dunno... nissan must've put a real bad fuel pump in these b15's...lol... but im planning on putiing a walbro 255lph fuel pump in within the next couple of months so ill fill you in if the no start problems dissappear.... the temporary fix i suggested would hafta do for now... lemme know if it works

Works for me. Although, its a little unsettling it happened the first time I turned the car off and back on. I guess thats what my extensive 100,000 mile warranty is for. Even if Nissan doesn't want to recall anything, the dealer still fixes it for free.
