2004 sentra auto trans stuck in 2nd

Car has 112k miles. Car starts out from dead stop in, i believe, 2nd gear and doesnt upshift. Checked fluid level, its ok. Manually shifting gear selector thru D1,D2 etc. doesnt change anything. scanned ECM codes, nothing relevant.

Does anything change as the car warms up or anything? You might have blown a solenoid or possibly an internal seal. Either way, it sounds like you're going to have to dig into the trans. Might be time to bring it to a transmission shop.

Thanks for the reply. No, there is no change with temp. Problem seemed to concide with a starting issue that has developed. It turns over, starts then kills immediately.(Thinking fuel pump) Half an hour later car will start and run fine except for trans issue. scanned codes and got camshaft position sensor circuit failure...not sure if engine problem could be affecting trans ???

Nope. They should be 2 separate entities.

Weird. Problem went away on its own. Car is shifting normal again...for now anyways
