It's time to get the Z ready for spring.
Last year I started having problems with the top.
Putting the top down this is what happens:
Push the button and the back latch releases but the top doesn't move.
i can pull the top up slowly from the back to the upright position then
the deck lid will open and the front will start to come up and goes back 75% of the way and I have to help it the rest of the way until it's almost in then the motor takes over and finishes the proceedure.I have lube everything I could findwith white lithium grease.Has anyone else had this problem? if so what is the fix?Are the motors going bad or do the elastic pieces need replced?
Happy motoring
Warm weather is on the way.

Having just replaced the driver side power window motor today, I am betting that your problem, and mine, lies in one of the three similiar motors that drive the roadster top. Mine would get half way opened and then stop. I could close it and then it would work again the next time until a month ago when the top stayed open. I got it to close by pulling out all the trunk and using a ratchet on each of right and left motors and manually cranking it closed. I have yet to deal with the center motor. My answer is to to have a near-by auto electrical shop rebuild them all and see what happens. It's a good middle step before replacing the motors or shelling out the thousands the dealer charges for Roadster top repairs.
Good luck--it is a great car.
