I have the 2004 QX56 with almost 100k mile on it.
last week, the rpm gauge just don't work anymore. and, not at the normal position.
it doesn't stay on zero(8 o'clock), but on the 4 o'clock position.

anyway can fix this? will it harm the car? or confuse the computer to control the engine speed?
can I install an after market add-on gauge for it?

please let me know

Thanks

you can get used instrument clusters (salvage, fleabay, etc) and either find one close to your mileage or have a dealer adjust the miles.

if you are concerned about the instrument cluster throwing codes, invest in a OBD code/scanner/reader cable and software to read any DTC's at the port.

as mentioned, without knowing what is causing the issue, its difficult to say.

however, if you invest (little cost) in a OBD port scanner you can check the system for any DTC's that may ever crop up. I personally use torque and a BT obd port dongle.
