your post is devoid of information.

based on the age of your car, in terms of video, sounds like the CCU is faulty. if you dont have the backup lines on the screen, this could be the culprit. if you DO have backup lines on the screen, this leans m ore to the camera itself.

when you say "control vac unit" what do you mean? can you take some time to be more specific here?

Hi sorry for the vague description.
Ok here's my problem. 2004 qx56 , a few nights ago I notice that my monitor screen went blank it was all black.
Now I notice that my heating works fine because I can here it . The radio work fine I can hear it . UT some reason there is no display on the front monitor. No NAV display, no radio display or no nav display. When I would park and came back the next day it sometimes would came back on. Ok it cames on and In the middle of driving sometimes it would just go black again. I know it not the monitor because I have a nav2go on there to watch movies on my front screen and it works fine.
Is just that I am not getting any information on the front screen about my NAV ,my heating controls and radio info. Like I said if works is just that no picture when backing up , camera work fine, no visual of information. It think this covers it. Thanks .

sounds like a faulty instrument cluster and could also be a faulty CCU for the backup camera.

what do you mean you can hear the heat? :D

Lol. Na. The hvac when I turn on the hvac it cames on ,it makes a little clicking sound I know it working lol. . Well my gauge cluster is working fine. Is like I said the monitor is just show black .no visualization of anything.
I am not sure but I read on one post yesterday, some guy had the same problem ,same truck . He said the dealer said it was the AUDIO,VISUAL AND NAVIGATION CONTROLL UNIT was bad and it was replaced. SO MY QUESTION IS ON A 2004 QX56 WHAT IS THE AUDIO, VISUAL AND NAVIGATION CONTROLLED UNIT.? Is it the monitor or something else. And what is it and where is it located. Thanks .much help .

the "AUDIO,VISUAL AND NAVIGATION CONTROLL UNIT" [sic] is the CCU i spoke about. "CCU" is not the proper nissan technical term for that (it means Camera Control Unit in television speak and I work in film and television).

when speaking about the backup camera:

it has the camera itself and the CCU which is this "AUDIO,VISUAL AND NAVIGATION CONTROLL UNIT" [sic] thingy.

i think i touched on this earlier but a quick troubleshooting thing is to put the car in reverse, and view the screen.

if you see the backup lines but no image, its possible its JUST the camera that needs replacing. the backup lines are generated from that CCU and powers the camera once it gets the proper signal from the BCM and TCM through the canbus.

if you dont see the lines and no image (black screen) its most likely the CCU. coujld also be the camera as well but since the cuu is not working you will have to get it repaired/replaced before you can test the camera.

    and above all,

if the instrument cluster is faulty, it can send mixed signals down the can bus to the bcm and tcm ands cause other issues, so even though your cluster is working, you mentioned its flakey/intermittent, and this will also need to be replaced or you will /may continue to have issues.

Hay marctronixx, thanks for your response
We'll i found the problem. Yea it's the audio, visual unit . A friend told me that when this happens, this means that box get so hot that the soldering sometimes melts and causes these problems. On my truck that unit is on the back of the monitor. So for anybody having that problem this solved it , and on other nissan vehicle that have the same problem.
Try changing the audio, visual box .
