So background on this issue is in an attempt to replace a cracked lower light cover on my driver's side passenger door, I blew the power window control unit for that window. Basically, I was attempting to remove the door panel and pulled a bit too hard on the panel to release the clip near the power window switch, which in turn pulled the cover off with a bit more force and broke the electrical connector that's located near that window switch. I then used the main switch by the driver's seat, which blew the control unit to that back right side door. This all happened maybe year or year and a half ago. The window was stuck in the down position so I had to suck it up and take the truck to the dealer to have them rebuild the connector and I had to order a new control unit. The dealer happily rebuilt the connector and took hundreds of dollars from me in the process but I installed the new control unit. I put everything back together and door panel back on and window works good but I noticed that the auto up/down feature no longer works. I've tried a few times to reset the auto up/down feature by following a few procedures on the web and nothing has worked so far. Since this is a minor inconvenience, I just forgot about it until recently. I'm now trying to fix the little knit picky things with my truck and so thought I might try this forum. Was I supposed to set or program the control unit when I installed it so that it knows how to do auto up/down or is there something I can do now to program this?

Thanks!
Steve

I'd think it was the switch or the plug of the switch. Basically, the parts they were supposed to be fixing. That and the connection to the new control unit (could it not be plugged in all the way?). I'd use a voltmeter and do some diagnoses on the switch to test it's functionality. You could compare your findings to another known working switch.

worse case, disconnect the battery for a few minutes. this will clear radio codes, ECM maps, etc but could "reset" things.

i assume the other windows work normally yes?

Thanks for the replies. As for disconnecting the battery, I've done that recently because my battery died over the summer so I had the old one out for a few hours while I was out getting a new one. That did not resolve the express up/down feature for this window. And yes, all other windows work perfectly fine, no issues with the express up/down on those.

Regarding the window switches, the express up/down does not work for that window using the switch on the passenger door for that window or the main switch near the driver's controls (driver's seat). Since it doesn't work for either switch, my guess is it's not the window switch but more related to the control unit wiring or control unit itself, or the express feature needs to be programmed to auto up/down and I have not done that correctly. There is a possibility that when the dealer repaired the main connector, they didn't line up the wires correctly. So what happened with the connector was when I pulled the door panel with a bit too much force, it pulled all of the wires completely out of the connector. I had no clue which wire went into what slot so the dealer put it back together using the wiring schematic but there is a chance they didn't line the wires up in that connector properly. I had ordered the control unit online so all I had the dealer do was simply put the connector back together. I brought the truck home and installed the control unit myself, plugged it all back together, got the window working fine but quickly noticed the express feature no longer worked. I started to think that the control unit I ordered was for a QX56 model that did not have the rear seats express up/down but when I rechecked the part numbers, I found out that this is the only control unit they sell. There is not other part that I could find so that's not the problem.

I was hoping this was just a programming issue :(
