I just picked up my New 2004 Quest SL last week.

I cannot get the Rear Heater to blow out Hot air, it only blows out cool air. The front heat works fine!

Also, there is a a rattle/vibration on drivers side door area!

Can anyone please assist me or shall I bring in to service?

Thanks

there is a TSB for the rear heat I believe. take it to the dealer its covered under warrenty.

Your other problem is a bit more complicated at this point in time.

The rattle is from the slider door. if you wrap masking tape around the black pin at the bottom of the forward side of the slider door[ door open] you will temporarily fix the noise till the tape wears through. The complicated part is the engineers are trying feverishly to fix the rattles from both the slider doors but have yet to come up with a successful repair. do the fix temporarily yourself till they come up with a fix. That problem has plagued our dealer since the van first rolled off the line.

You didnt buy the model with the toaster slots [sky veiw roof] on top did ya?

Thanks for the quick response!

No, I did not buy the skytop view.

I made an appt with dealer for later this week! Hopefully they can resolve the problems.

Bob just be aware they are not gonna be able to fix the rattle permanently. If it comes back dont be to harsh on the dealer, they are trying to do the best they can with what the engineers have produced.ok? Since the engineers havent been able to resolve it yet, after 6 months of trying. the techs will certainly be hard pressed to figure out how to permanantly solve the problem.

Thanks Again!

So far I'm lovin' this minivan (compared to our '98 Plymouth Voyager)

Hopefully in near future, certain problems will be corrected.

yeah they will find a fix for it, Its just gonna be awhile. If you got the patience for some other potential rattles it will all be taken care of...hopefully soon. we are getting some pretty agittated customers over this problem right now. We are just as hopeful for those fixs as the owners are.

I just took a ride with the service guy. The rear heater is fine. I found out it only blows on floor under the seat. The blowers on top are for Air Condition only. Glad that was resolved.

He still could not determine noise on driver side area. I have to schedule an appt to leave car. Still was unsure if they would find the problem. Its not very noisy but its annoying.

take it down a road with uneven surfaces and some lobg sweeping turns should make the noise go crazy if its the rattle I am reffering to. try the masking tape on the pin to confirm and to stop it till you take it in.

Another problem encountered:

It happened twice only, the car was in park position, no sound from radio or CD I tried every thing, played with radio controls nothing happened. I restarted the van every thing was back to normal, Sound was OK from Radio, never happened again.

Has this happened to anyone and how was it resolved?

Thanks,

Bob

havent heard of the radio thing myself as of yet.

the pin is at the lower portion of the door jam. the slider door that is. there is a socket for the pin to go into when the door is closed. the pin I believe is actually on the door and the socket is mounted to the body piller. on the pin wrap a peice of masking tape around it. it is slightly recessed in its main body but a good 1 to 1½" peice of masking tape will wrap around the pin and stop the rattle temporarily. your van doesnt happen to be green is it?

Thanks Again! I will give it a try.

My Quest is "Smoke" color.

I read today also regarding a TSB for the Slider doors. Hopefully when I bring in for service, they can fix the problem.

I asked the color since at our dealer it seems to be the green ones that have the problem. Its to the point when we see one on the service drive we kinda look at each other and go uh oh either the sky veiw leaks or the doors rattle. I believe I have seen the bulliten you speek of but it addresses a closure issue on the power doors.

I have also read on the Edmunds Town Hall site regarding all of the Door Rattles, etc.. issues. A few people have tried WD40 and have resolved the problem. I will first bring into Service next Tuesday and go from there.

Thanks,

Nice tips. We've used armor-all on the rubber strips on top of the sliding doors. Also with the sliding doors, for us it happens when we go down and over a ramp at an angle. Tried everything.Gotta try that masking tape.Another cold weather problem is door not fully closing in cold weather.

The skyview leak, required the skyview to be removed and re-installed.

siliconed the entire skyview. leaks.found the channel around the skyview leaking.R+R skyview.

there is a bulliten about the door not closing.

we have had 2 with the skyveiw problems. sent them to the body shop for repair. apperantly nissan has changed the glass and added a rubber seal all the way around it to fill the gap around the glass. we asked engineering if we could do the sealer all the way around and they told us no. no explination as to why not but they were stern about it.

Addional to my other problems:

I've had my '04 Quest SL for 2 weeks and today the "Service Engine Soon" light came on. Also there was a very noisy wind coming from the driver's side area today driving on the highway.

Has anyone experienced these issues?

Thanks,

Bob

Thanks,

I also have my service appt for Tuesday to hopefully correct the rattling noises on the driver's side door area. I will also mention if the light is still on!

if it was the gas cap it could take a couple days to clear the light threw the self tests the car runs. it has to see at least 2 consecutive good tests to clear the light. test conditions are specific[certian events have to take place for the car to run the test]. just drive normal for a couple days if it doesnt go out you may have the reprogram issue KA mentioned.

I brought my Quest in for service today. I just called and they said they adjusted Slider door on driver's side, corrected the wind noise coming from the driver's window but as of now could not find out why the "Service Engine Soon" light is still on.

When I went to pick up car, the service guy said they just got back from a ride. He said they adjusted for the rattle and another rattle was noticed when making a right turn. I left the car with them to hopefully find and fix tomorrow. Regarding the Wind noise on driver door, they said they adjusted door. Also the "Service engine soon" light was resolved (They said it related to The coolant system?
