Was helping my GF's dad replace the front hubs on their old Quest. Got the right side that was noisy, and were going to try to get the left one but couldn't get the bottom rear mounting bolt out--the socket just kept slipping off. The socket doesn't want to go on quite straight because of the axle. Tried soaking with PB Blaster but no luck. Any ideas? Fortunately the left side doesn't seem to be bad yet; we were just going to try replacing it before it does go.

put a torch on it and use a hammer stress and break free the rust that has it locked in place, then soak it again in PB. If you can't get a socket to seat fully, find something else, like locking pliers to clamp onto it.

Please do not forget to remove the abs sensor, it will break if you do not remove it.

Actually, while removing the ABS sensors, both bolts broke off while attempting to unbolt. By hand. With a short ratchet. Fortunately, the sensors came out easy. I tied them back on with some galvanized wire, which seemed good enough to hold them.

Living in a salt state has it's drawbacks. One of them is you get to watch your vehicle disappear right in front of your eyes.
