My 2004 Pathfinder won't start. The radio turns on, the lights work, etc. but when I turn the key it just clicks. It's like there is a communication problem with the starter. I had the starter replaced a few months ago so that's not the issue. (I'm pretty pissed because this was happening before I replaced the starter, which means I might have replaced a functioning starter) The battery and connection cables are also brand new.

Can anyone think about what might be happening? Is it a relay problem? I'm scared to take it back to the shop until I know exactly what the heck is going on because I don't think they'll fix the problem. Thanks for any help.

Have you checked the battery with a volt meter or are you absolutely sure its charged? Have you tried jumping it? I get the clicking when my battery is dead.

Definitely check the battery, it might have enough juice to power the accessories which don't draw a lot of current, but the draw could be too high when trying to crank the engine. Put a voltmeter across the battery terminals, have someone crank the engine, and see what the drop is like. I can't say what the exact range is to look for, but I think any drop more than 2 volts would make the battery a candidate for replacement.
