2004 Nissan Pathfinder LE Trouthunter Edition 130k Miles
Problem occurred after I hit something while in 4HI on a forest road this summer. Was feeling some slight vibration shortly after so went to take out of 4HI and would not disengage normally. I.E. shift to neutral move T-case lever to 2wd then shift back to Drive and go. I had to stop go in reverse to get hubs/t-case to disengage, also the green light will not turn off if you do not go in reverse. Didn’t think much of it until next time I tried 4Hi and realized vibrations were much worse that suspected. Could not go over 15MPH seemed front end was going to fall off.
Replaced:
-Transfer case fluid
-Front drive shaft u-joints they were shot and this did get rid some of the vibration.
-Removed front diff isolator mounts, they looked good. The “shop” that replaced the U-Joints told me those bushings in the mounts were bad and they wanted to replace. I declined to inspect myself that is why I looked at those.
Suspect:
CV-Axels- Seem OK can drive in circle in 4LO with no sounds.
Front Hubs
Transfer Case
Motor Mounts
Other:
Had turbine revolution sensor replaced 2yrs ago
Passenger side manifold cracked
Heat shield rattle
Slight leak in rear diff
