I am looking at rock auto to replace my 02 sensors. I kept getting bank 1 lean 1 reading and mileage has gone down so I am assuming the front 02 sensor. On Rock Auto I am looking to purchase the upstream right and upstream left if I want to replace bank 1? Just want to make sure before purchasing as they NTK 02 upstream sensors under 40 bucks. If correct, I figure I might as well do both fronts since they basically control the engine and my mileage.

Last question, the maxima swap with the MAF doesnt apply to the 2004 pathfinders correct? I have cleaned my MAF but may also replace that in the process and was looking for the cheapest MAF. Any help there?

Bank 1, sensor 1 is the passenger side upstream sensor. Bosch is the original O2 sensor manufacturer/supplier, but I don't think you can go wrong with NTK.

I don't believe the Maxima MAF will work for the '04 Pathfinder, unfortunately. Why do you want to replace your MAF - is it throwing a code, or are you having poor performance? If you are getting bad fuel economy or performance, the bad upstream sensor is almost certainly the culprit.

last week I got a terrible idle and the truck cut off one or two times at a stop light from the idle bouncing. I had plugs and wires done last year so I didnt think that was the issue. I bought some of that MAF cleaner spray and the MAF and the throttle body and almost all the bad idle went away and truck stopped stumpling. At 125k, I figure if cleaning it up helped the MAf might be on its way out. If I am going to do the front 02 sensors, I figured I would do a new MAF as well just to be safe.

Anybody got a site for a cheap MAF for a 2004. Again Rock Auto seems to be the cheapest I can find. I think Hitachi was the OEM correct?

If the maf isnt throwing a code, why waste your $ on a functional part???

MAFs are not maintenance items. I would replace your O2 sensor(s) first and see if the situation improves.

The MAF died on my 97 QX4 a few months ago. The first sign was that it stumbled when coming to a stop. A few miles of that and then it would die at every stop. CEL came on, code for MAF voltage too high, and knock sensor. Found an OEM one on ebay for $70, no problems since.

Coincidentally I'm selling a VG33E MAF on ebay right now for cheap (though again your problem doesn't sound MAF related).

A VG33E MAF won't fit on a VQ35DE. And if the MAF isn't throwing a code as in the OP's case, it's fairly unlikely that it is not malfunctioning. It's been known to happen, but I'd say it's a pretty slim chance.

If it's a 2004 like you said, then it has coil packs and not wires.
Hopefully you didn't pay for new wires that weren't there.
