Hey guys, i'm in need of a new dd an i was recently looking at a 2004 nissan titan, i was wondering if there is any known issues i should look for and also if anyone knows if they last long in the high mileage range.

any advice is appreciated

How far is your commute? What I would be most worried about is your fuel consumption. In town mileage is around 12.

my commute is usually within an 8 mile range every day.

Check the rear axle to make sure it has the updated rear pumpkin cover w/ cooling fins on it. The early ones didn't have this and roasted rear ends frequent enough during towing. Other than that and the MPGs they aren't bad trucks. I just wish they had a 5speed version, I'd be all over that.

I work for Nissan and to be honest you don't even have to tow for it to fry the rear end without the fins, i've seen plenty of Titans without any tow equipment come in with welded rear ends. Also be VERY careful to feel out the transmission, they often have issues with slipping or erratic shifting and the trans coolers have their own special TSB for failure lol. So its a MUST to check the color, and smell of the trans fluid.

thanks for the advice everyone , much appreciated, the truck i was going to buy was sold :(, but i'll keep looking!
