Hey everyone,

Just got my 04 Pathfinder back from the dealer and was told that it's throwing a P1130 Swirl Control Solenoid/Valve. The dealer informed me that the vehicle has no response /power when commanding the ECM to open and close the swirl valve. The valve does not open or close. I was told that I need to start with the ECM and then perform further diagnosis. They mentioned it could have a broken wire but they could not find any breaks at this time. I just recently had my intake cover gaskets replaced by a different shop. The issue seemed to arise after this work. The shop that did the valve work could not fix problem hence why I took it to the dealer. Symptoms are very erratic RPM's and acceleration when I pressed hard on the gas. If I ease on the accelerator, no issues. It's only when I floor it to get onto highway or floor it from a dead stop. Does anyone have any suggestions? Dealer suggested used ECM from another Pathfinder (they discontinued new ECM's) but I can't find any 04's that have an ECM with the VDC feature. I had an 02 Pathfinder where the chip for the IACV went bad on the ECU. I was able to replace it with the help of an electrical friend. Does anyone know if the swirl valve portion of the ECM is repairable?

I searched the board but couldn't find anything specific to ECM and swirl valve. Thanks all!

Mike

I JUST fixed this. Same truck. 04 Pathfinder Platinum. Had the 1130 pop up on my scan tool(snap on solus ultra) and said "swirl control valve". After testing mine and finding out it was bad, I replaced the valve and it fixed the code. Truck drives great again. Nissan pn 14956-1p101.

Hope this helps,
Rob
