2004 Nissan Murano 4WD - Differential Issues

Hi Folks,

I just bought a second hand Murano a few months back. The issue i'm having at the moment appears to be with the rear differential.. The problem i'm having is a loud thumping sound when driving forward or backward.

The shop i've taken it to is shaping me up for a $4500 CAD bill to fix the issue. Can anyone here advise:

1) a rough cost of a new rear differential2) a rough cost of the labour associated with it

That seems rather pricey.

Have you done a search on salvage yards online to try to source a rear diff?

I haven't been under mine to look yet, but I can't imagine it being that hard to replace.
