"I have had this problem on the Front Passenger side a year ago and after about 3 months worth of mechanical band aids, the dealer finally discovered it was the struts and replaced them. Now a year later I'm having the problem again on the driver's side and the car is no longer under warranty. Should I take the car to the dealer and get it taken care of or is this a problem I can get fixed at a mechanic who works on Nissans?

Is this problem common? What causes this problem and how can I avoid it?

Thanks for the help.

Its been a problem on the maximas and altimas. They tend to eat up front struts. The shaft gets loose in the housing causing your noise. I would try and get some goodwill assistance on it from nissan, they know its a problem.

Has it been 12/12 since they did it? Nissan has a 2/12 on parts even if its out of factory W.
