I'm in the middle of replacing a blown engine in my sisters 2004 maxima. Keep running into stupid little issues.i have never done a swap on a Nissan before so I figured I'd check out here and see if anyone has done this swap before and has any tips or suggestions that would help me out with the rest of this project. Looking forward to your answers!

What are some of the issues you are running into?

I haven't done a 3.5 before but I've done a few 3.0 and 2.4's on Nissans, same principles really.... usually I pull the engine and trans together depending on space. Pull all the connectors attached to the engine and/or trans and leave the harness attached to the car (hang it off to the side), disconnect and remove all the air intake piping/air box, etc., disconnect the exhaust from the exhaust manifolds on each side, remove all fuel lines and coolant/radiator hoses, possibly remove the radiator and fans if you need more room, remove the AC compressor and hang it off to the side of the bay with zip ties, same thing with the power steering pump (so that you don't need to drain either system). If you're leaving the trans in and just pulling the engine, you need to disconnect the engine from it. If pulling it together, you'll need to remove the shift linkage(s) and axles. Lastly will be motor mounts but only after you have the engine supported with a hoist.
