2004 Maxima weird trans/ABS problem

I have a 2004 Maxima SE 5 speed auto transmission i bought. WHen i bought it the ABS system didn't work.....i drove it over 1,000 miles to get it home...i had no speedo due to the ABS module being bad. I recently replaced the ABS module(ABS and speedo now work fine) and now when i drive it the transmission will set a P0744 code and the trans will be stuck in 3rd or 4th gear and won't downshift or upshift. I can pull over ...turn the car off...restart it and it will be fine for a few minutes. If i pull the ABS fuse out......the transmission will shift flawlessly and none of this will happen. I am very stressed out because of this....i have alot of $ invested and cannot drive the car with the ABS/speedomoeter working. Please help.
