2004 maxima: sucking sound when i press gas pedal

2004 maxima ..it has a sucking sound when i press the gas petal coming from the dash area just when i first press the gas petal ......please help

Do you have a modified intake system? the noise you describe sounds like air being sucked through the intake and its common to hear that after you add a cone filter or such.

no everything is stock ....sometimes i hear it and then i wont hear it for a few days....wierd

Next time it happens I would reccomend popping the hood and having someone blip the throttle while you listen for the sound, finding its source would be the first step.
