My 2004 M45 started to stop reading one tire pressure correctly and keeps giving me a flat tire warning.

I have rotated tires, changed tires, replaced tires and it always reset itself without any problems. It seems one sensor is bad.

Any ideas??

Thanks.

Wrong section man, but it sounds like your gonna need a new sensor. You might try getting the car into reset/learn mode, but I'm not sure how you'd do that w/o the special tool. There is a small one wire plug next to your obd II port that needs to grounded 5-6 w/in 4-5 seconds after the key is turned to the 'on' position...but like I said, w/o the tool made to do this, I'm not sure what damage just grounding the wire could do. Just take it to a reputable tire shop.

Oh, btw, the sensor you're thinking of is the tpms, not the tps (throttle pos. sensor). Just to avoid any future confusion.

The dealer will rape you on something like this...which is why I said take it to a tire shop. But it's your money, man.

whats the cost of being raped by a dealer in your opinion. i have found the part for between $50 to $100 depending on where I get it.

I was thinking the whole deal to replace one sensor should be about $150-$200.

I was wondering how do they determine which sensor is bad? Must need a special tool for that. I doubt the locals in my area have that tool. or is there a simple way to determine which sensor has gone bad??? I thought this might be a do it yourself job......but soon realized there is no way I can dismount and mount a tire.

By the way.....mine have always reset themselves without any dealer intervention. So I am lost as to why a dealer has to do anything except find the bad one and replace it. I see other posts that state otherwise. If I had a tire changer I can buy a new OEM sensor on ebay for $50.

Thanks for your advice again. I will let you know what the final outcome is as soon as I get it fixed.
