I'm about to get a 2004 M45 - not sure if it has sat radio installed. What are my options - dealer / infinitpartsUSA / anything else?Exactly what happens on a dealer install? Does the 2004 have it installed in the radio automatically (since there's a SAT button) and you just have to activate or does the dealer actually have to install a receiver and separate antenna that's wired into your radio?Would it be the same receiver that I'd get from infinitipartsUSA?I saw on the post regarding the 2003 that he put the antenna inside the car - is reception OK that way?

Thanks much.LG

Hi, I installed Sirius in my 2003 . I initially had the antenna on the dash, but I was getting too many dropouts. Since then, I moved it to the roof.

If there is a receiver already installed in your car, it can be found behind the driver's side trunk liner. Since yours is a 2004 it should at least be pre-wired from the factory which helps tremendously.

It is doubtful that you have a receiver though since there is no antenna I'm guessing. ask your dealer to quote a price to install the sat. It would be the same receiver you get from InfinitipartsUSA

Thanks, Bag. BTW -your installations are sweet. So since it's prewired, the jack/plug should be available in the trunk so I just have to plug in the receiver and run the antenna?

Different subject - in addition to that, is there an available jack in the head unit itself if I want to attach an IPOD?

Thanks again.

No. I had to go the cassette adaptor route. Thanks for the compliment.

bag,

slightly off topic, i was in a different thread where there was a pic of ur car, and i was trying to figure out if ur tint was a 35% or a 20%. I have the same color car as u so i was wondering how each would look on it.

I went with light tint this time (35%?) all the way around. I want people to see me in this car. I also had the windshield tinted very lightly. It helps alot here.

As I get older, I have been going lighter. Limo only when I was a teen. Medium in my 20's and light now that I'm in my 30's. I think it looks a little classier.

Thx for the input.

I have torn apart my trunk looking for an available jack for the satellite receiver and can't find one. I also got a day's subscription to the service manual on the Nissan pubs site - the 2004 manual references the Y34 M45 model - not the Y41 I have. It doesn't show a connection for the satellite receiver. It does show the location of the NAV/AV receiver in the trunk (which I don't have) so I thought I might find the connector there (under the back deck - near the woofer amplifier). No luck.

Anyone know what kind of connector I should be looking for - or even if it's definitely pre-wired? Or will I have to go into the dash to wire the satellite receiver to the head unit?

Thanks. LG

The SAT harness should be behind the trunk liner on the Driver's side quarter panel.

There is no such thing as a Y41. Must be a typo or you misread somewhere.

'Y41' is part of my VIN. Since I saw that, I assumed the the 'Y34' meant that it was part of the VIN of a series. So I guess mine is a 'Y34' series? What's odd is that in the Y34 Service Manual they don't mention the satellite radio wiring hookup but they do mention the CD and cassette.

Bag says that the harness should be in the trunk - driver's side. I'm not seeing it. Do you know what I should be looking for?

thanks. LG

I dont have sat radio. Im not sure but I dont think they came pre-wired for sat radio. Meaning if you dont have it and want it, you will need EVERYTHING for it including the antenna, sat unit, wiring, etc.

Oh and I dont think they usually include dealership add-ons or some accessories in the service manual.

That makes sense. I do have a button that says 'SAT' but when I push it a message comes on the screen that says 'Satellite radio not installed'

Do you have a 2003 or 2004?

Looks like I'll be going into the dash.

See this thread for a picture of the Harness (read the captions). zerothread?id=230833

To find out if your car is pre-wired, you can,1) Call the dealer with your VIN and they'll tell you.2) The driver's door jamb may have a sticker saying "this car has been pre-wired for satellite radio"

I have .pdf instructions at home, I can email them to you later also.

SAT pre-wire started in model year 2003 for all models with a VIN# ending in 005899 and later. (By checking against the last 6 digits of your VIN#.

So, the 5,900th car off the assembly line and later have been pre-wired.

Since yours is a 2004, it should be wired.

Bag:

Thanks much. I called and ordered from infinitipartsusa.com and they told me the same thing regarding the VIN. I'd definitely recommend those guys - price and service are great. So I should be wired but I'm having a heck of a time finding the connector.

I'd appreciate any documentation you have - they sent me a diagram but could be different from what you have. The more detail the better. If you get a chance please send to [email protected].

I like your V-1 install. Where'd you get the multi-colored remote? I just got a V-1 also but just use the remote at the ash tray although I intend to wire it into the car. Does that tinted area of your windshield affect the V-1's performance that high up on the windshield?
