I've got an M45 on order. The salesman was very honest and said the battery that comes with the M45 is not the best. He said he has had some go bad in 2 years. Does anyone have an opinion or experience on this? I'm thinking about putting in an Optima battery. These AGM batteries are great. I had a 2003 Corvette that had an AGM and it was great. I had to sell the Vette because of my knees, both of which are being totally replaced this year. I just could not get in and out without extreme pain. I just wondered how really bad the original battery in the M45 is. Thanks.

ps: Driving the M45 was as close a 4-door will get to a Vette.

Welcome to NICO and check out this thread about a nice M45.

There's also a thread about Optima batteries, but I've never heard of the M45 battery issue.

Why should you care, it will be under warranty and actually Nissan batteries are pretty good. My 97' Q45 got a brand new one when I bought it in 2000 and it is still quite strong. Any battery that goes more than 4 years is a success.

Welcome to NICO!

I just bought an Optima battery, for my Q. It is a little smaller than the original.

Awesome battery, and comes with a 3 year replacemnt warranty.

It was $150, but I think is was well worth it.

Welcome to NICO.

What color M are you getting and when will it be in?I also haven't heard anything about the battery problem. I don't think you should be in a rush to get the Optima battery.

The M color is Diamond Graphic with a Willow interior. It is loaded with everything except chrome wheels. Hopefully it will come in right between my two knee replcament surgeries. My left is next Monday. I'll post some pictures.

Also, I watched the replay of the New York Auto Show in high definition on HDNet. I may be in minority, but I like the current version of the M vs. the Concept M which is due out in July of 2005. I think the rear end looks terrible, and the inside looks too much like a space shuttle. I'm going to be 60 next month and I think the current M looks like a muscle car from the 60's.

The new M is 5 inches shorter and priced out like the M I have on order lists at about $57,000. My sticker is $50,140.

Ouch! :( Hope you feel better soon ...Quote »I may be in minority, but I like the current version of the M vs. the Concept [/quote]I am in the same minority group! I think the new M and Q are too bland and generic. The current M has unique and distinctive looks - very much like the first-gen Q back in 1990 (I bought one in 1991 as a result of the outstanding performance!)

FWIW, at a quick side of the car glance while driving, I once mistook a new 2000-3 Q for a Maxima. This is not an insult to Maxima owners ... quite the contrary! :)

I do like the new Concept M45, but I have to say, I still like mine better -- definitely unique. I'm actually considering keeping it after my lease is up. You can't go wrong with this car !!!

Hope you enjoy as much as the rest of us do !!!
