Hello All, happy to be back in the NICO club with my recent purchase of a 2004 M45 with 59,600 miles. I just turned 60k on it and am feeling like I need to do some fluid maintenance. I spoke with Lokey Infiniti in Clearwater where the car was purchased and all they have for maintenance was the 2 recalls and the 15k maintenance which was mainly a brake fluid flush. Typically when I get a used car I change all the fluids - which I want to do with this car. Only thing is - it is running great. I just took a trip to Orlando and got 24.2 MPG at 70 MPH. Infiniti service recommended a 30k service which includes changing the: oil, transmission, rear differential, coolant, power steering, and throttle body. I'm thinking I need to get all of this done for maintenance on my new to me 14-yr old car. Please share your thoughts and experiences with this car and maintenance - also getting this type of maintenance done at a dealer vs local type shop since these cars are somewhat rare. Thanks in advance...

I think you have a solid plan. I too do all the fluids when I buy a car regardless of mileage. However, I do most of it myself and only have the dealer do the trans, diff and coolant. Oil, power steering, filters, etc. I do myself.

If you have a good trans shop, have them do the fluid change, they typically have all or similar tools as the dealer with 1/2 the price, The rear diff if you can't do yourself any competent shop can do. I say independent shops should be fine for everything you can't do yourself and save you some $, but if $ doesn't matter then dealer may be ok. But I have found that even the dealer (who typically hasn't seen these cars in 10 years) may not be any better.

Dealer said would be $1400 for everything - I am going to call 2 local shops on Monday to see what they say. I didn't think of the fact that dealer probably hasn't seen this car for 10 years so it's not like the tech or whoever would have experience with the car. Anxious to see what costs they come back with Monday...
