My fuel gauge is going crazy. At one point it will show the tank as full and the next moment it will shoot to half. Any help would be appreciated.

I will take it to the Infiniti dealer eventually but if i can solve it i think I can save arround 300-500$ for this problem

Hello,The fuel gauge issue is beyond documented here. A scary number of people have had this problem and the dealer should be well aware. A simple search on NICO with fuel gauge issue & M45 will yield a trove of results. Seeing that you have a 2004, you might have warranty remaining. If not, your warranty has recently lapsed so a call to Infiniti Corporate might help given the frequency of this issue. It seems more 2003's have been affected than 2004's. Sorry yours is having the problem.Cheers,ML

Aw Jeeez....that's the first '04 I've heard of with the issue. Please don't tell me we're going to see more of them and that I'll be one too.

You were joking right???

The scary part is that my Mileage info on the navigation screen was also showing me 167 miles remaining to Empty and the fuel gauge was showing half.

Just to be sure i fueled up the tank to find it digested 19.4 gallons of fuel.. i was running on reserve for the past 3 days... If i would not have fueled up i would have been stranded on the highway... phew... M taking it to the Infiniti dealer tomorrow... lets hope they fix it as a known issue...

Even the tire pressure gauge is going crazy... It shows flat tire when the pressure is normal and after some miles it starts going up till it comes back to normal... Loads of issues started with the Eletricals.. Even the Cruise is not responding...

I have an 04 and have had the gas gauge problem twice since June 08. The first time they replaced the entire indstrument cluster and recenlty, they said all components were within tolerence and replaced an o ring on the fuel sending unit.

For the cruise, if the ICC icon flashed when you power up, I understand that the forward looking lens (black plastic) in the lower pass. side of the bumper is probably needing a good cleaning.

You might already know that If you hold down the cruise control power button, the ICC system turns off and you can use cruise normally until you can clean the lens. It has worked for me even when the ICC system was flashing upon power up.

167 miles to empty with the fuel needle at half is about right for 17.2mpg. But if it also took in 19.4 gallons, while still showing 167 miles to empty, that's not good.

When you say the TPMS shows a flat tire, do you just mean the light on the dash comes on? What pressure does the lowest tire start out at according to the monitor? I only ask because the pressure on cold mornings with mine change as much as 4 lbs. Same thing was happenng to me unitl I added a couple of pounds all around.

I'm curious, what's your average currently at?

No The ICC flash does'nt light up... When i turn on the cruise the green cruise comes up.. When i hit the set button i hear a small beep and the orange cruise light comes up... Thats it... Nothing happens after that.. I turned off the ICC by holding the cruise on/off for 3 seconds. The main cruise is not working so i guess the ICC also wont work..

For the TPMS the light on the dash as well the preasure meter on the navigation screen goes to 0 displaying flat tyre..this is during bright after noon... The other tyres are all proper so i guess the tyre preasure monitor of one of the tyres is busted..

Just 2 weeks back i took it to pepboys to get the break pads changed and then preasured up the tires to 38. All tyres were showing proper when i left then one week later this happens.
