2004 I35 safe mode ??

Help.. My 2004 I35 has 68K on it, serviced regularly and has never had a problem.

Yesterday while on the freeway the "battery" & "brake" dash lights suddenly came on. Approx 5min later the car lost drive (like the transmission shifted to neutral) and the engine would not rev above 1500rpm. Had to be towed home. Any ideas what could be wrong ??thanks..

from what i've heard 90% of the cases alternator.Same thing happened to me about a month ago. If you have somewhat technical skills not too hard to replace. took me like 2.5 hours. I did have air tools tho.

Yep, alternator. Same thing happened to my wife when she drove the I35. I have an extended warranty so it only cost me $50, but i am sure it was more than that with labor.

It was the alternator.. Job wasn't to bad..It took me 2.5 hours too..
